Mental health first aid is an evidence-based course giving employees the skills to support co-workers and guide them to professional help if needed. It has been shown to increase knowledge, confidence and helping behaviours, promote early help seeking, and reduce stigma.

Description

What’s involved in the course?

  • The Blended Online MHFA Workplace Course is tailored specifically to the workplace and includes 5-7 hours of self-paced online learning, followed by two facilitated online sessions with an accredited MHFA Instructor.
  • The two facilitated sessions are each 2.5 hours long and are typically scheduled on the same day. (2 x 2.5hour long sessions with at least an1 hour break in between session 1 and session 2) 
  • This course provides participants with a nationally recognised accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider.

How do you sign up?

Select from the dates available above. A minimum 6 and a maximum of 12 participants are required per course. 

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training course which gives your employees the skills and confidence to have supportive conversations with their co-workers and help guide them to professional help if needed. It has been shown to increase knowledge, confidence, helping behaviours, and reduce stigma. The Mental Health First Aid course is a highly interactive programme with videos, workshop exercises, group discussions and informative material content.

The MHFA course covers signs, symptoms, and evidence-based treatments for the following common conditions:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychotic
  • Substance use problems

The MHFA course also provides first aid guidelines for the following crises situations:

  • Suicidal thoughts, feelings, or behaviours
  • Panic attacks and Traumatic events
  • Severe psychotic episodes
  • Intoxication and Aggression
